Oprah Winfrey Biography
Oprah Winfrey is a media executive, actress, and philanthropist from the United States. She is best known for hosting The Oprah Winfrey Show, a popular daytime television talk show, from 1986 to 2011.
Winfrey was born on January 29, 1954, in Kosciusko, Mississippi, to an unmarried teenage mother. She grew up in poverty and faced many challenges during her childhood, including sexual abuse and a period of homelessness. Despite these hardships, Winfrey excelled academically and was awarded a full scholarship to Tennessee State University, where she studied communication.
Winfrey began her career in media as a radio host in Nashville, Tennessee, and later hosted a television talk show in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1986, she was offered her own nationally syndicated talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, which quickly became a hit and ran for 25 seasons.
